The Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain Recreation Area in Big Bear Lake, home of the world-famous Alpine Slide, offers family fun activities year round. In the summer there is a cool water slide and in the winter there is plenty of fun snow play.

The Big Bear Alpine Zoo is open 7 days a week from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM and features many species of animals and birds. There is a daily animal presentation at noon and feeding tours most days.

The Big Bear Discovery Center is the largest visitor center in the Big Bear Valley. Stop by and be one of the more than 190,000 yearly visitors to enjoy exhibits, weekly programs, eco-tours, and special events like outdoor concerts, theater productions, and nighttime interpretive programs in the Big Bear Discovery Center Amphitheater.

The Big Bear Valley Historical Society operates a Historical Museum with an extensive collection of artifacts, featuring exhibits from the indigenous Serrano Indians, the gold mining era, cowboys and cattle ranching, logging, fox farming and early winter sports.

Castle Rock Trail is a 2.7 mile out and back trail located near Big Bear Lake, California that features a great forest setting and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is best used from March until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Location: Castle Rock trail begins 1.1 miles east of the dam on Hwy 18.
Holcomb Valley was the site of the most gold mines in Southern California. It was named after William F. Holcomb, who found gold there in 1860. The site is now registered as California Historical Landmark #619.
